About Us
Many of us know Nepal because of its mountain range called the Himalayas that is home to Everest, the highest mountain in the world. We were captivated by the story of climbers trying to summit the mountain; it was world wide news when Hillary & Norgay against the odds reached the top. Yet despite all this there is so much more to Nepal, so many majestic peaks, 240 standing over 20,000 ft (6096m) that appeal to climber, trekker, adventurer, photographer and even botanist. Nepal often referred to as Shangri-La a land outside of time, a promised land. A place that explodes the imagination, where travelers have explored since the 1800’s.
The Himalayan mountain range is concentrated in such a small area, all of 147,181 sq km. Deep in her valleys and high from her slopes flow raging torrents of water gushing from glaciers and hidden lakes which in turn support a spectacular range of flora to delight even the amateur botanist. Nepal’s geographical diversity is quite incredible, from its lowest point at sea level of 67m to its highest point at 8848m as the crow flies is the short distance of 150km. This is turn creates huge climatic fluctuations in temperature from sub-tropical in the south to Artic conditions in the north of the country. Along this imaginary 150km line within Nepal are 50 different ethnic groups living and eking a living from the many dramatically different landscapes. It’s the people that make Nepal so special. Many express a childlike curiosity with a genuine friendliness to all travelers to their country. In the more remote parts of Nepal as a traveler you will find that many of the different ethnic groups have not been touched or changed by the fast-passed modern world.
